COACH XU HUAI QING, 1ST CHINESE TO WIN AT THE ADCC TRIALS
Congratulations to our very own METHOD MMA Coach and AL LEONE-sponsored athlete, Xu Huai Qing, on his victory!
This past month, on May 11th, Xu HuaiQing and his fellow athletes attended the ADCC Asian & Oceania Trials in Bangkok,Thailand.
He competed in the -66KG Division, which is one of the sport’s most dynamic and exciting divisions, featuring some of the best grapplers.
Xu Huai Qing rose to the challenge, demonstrating his pure skill and resilience.
This is a significant moment not only for him but also for his home gym and country, as he is the first Chinese national to win in ADCC history.
We are very proud of his accomplishment, and on behalf of his METHOD MMA family and the AL LEONE team, we can say that we are behind him and believe this is only the beginning of his long and successful BJJ career.
We asked XHQ for his thoughts on how the fight went and if he has any advice for his fellow grapplers:
– Q:HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE THE FIRST CHINESE NATIONAL TO WIN ADCC?
– A: I feel very good. I am honored to win this championship, and l will continue to work hard!
– Q:HOW DID YOU PREPARE FOR THE COMPETITION? WHAT WAS YOUR MINDSET GOING IN?
– A:I did a lot of physical and intense training before the competition. I will always encourage myself to maintain a good attitude throughout the competition.
– Q:CAN YOU SHARE SOME OF YOUR THOUGHTS ON HOW THE FIGHT WENT AND HOW YOU OVERCAME ANY CHALLENGES DURING THE COMPETITION?
– A:I don’t have much energy to think about other things during the match. I’m always focused on what the opponent is doing. lf I meet a strong opponent, I will observe them and devise a strategy to overcome the challenge.
– Q:DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE OR WORDS OF MOTIVATION FOR OTHER BJJ ATHLETES?
– A:My advice is to participate in competitions as much as possible because they will help you a lot and improve your skills very quickly.
Congrats again to XHQ! We can’t wait to see what you’ll do next on the mat at the ADCC finals in Las Vegas.
